Akira Toriyama is a shy and reserved person who does not like interviews. He is a noted video-game character designer , known for the games Dragon Quest series, Blue Dragon, among others.He is an animal lover and has had many pets since his childhood. He has a great liking for plastic models and has created many for ‘Fine Molds’ brand.
Important event in Toriyama's Life
The jump to fame came with Dr. Slump, which was published in the aforementioned magazine between 1980 and 1984. Thanks to her, she received the Manga Prize in 1981 awarded by the Shōgakukan publishing house. That day Toriyama was fascinated by the great achievement of his work, although he is shy and does not like the interviews he was very happy. After having created Doctor Slupm Toriyama I create his most important work which would take him to the top of fame: Dragon Ball.

Toriyama's Biography
- Toriyama was born on April 5, 1955, in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. His father owned an auto repair business and enjoyed motorbike racing. Toriyama has inherited the love for cars and motorbikes from his father.
- As there were no means of entertainment during his school days, all his elementary school friends tried to draw anime and manga. He, too, followed the trend and then, his entry of ‘101 Dalmatians’ won him a prize at the local art studio. Thus, he got interested in this work.
- In 1974, he joined high school to study art, specializing in publicity. But in 1977 he left it to enroll in ‘cartoon drawing.’ Then he took up a job of designing posters in an advertising company in Nagoya. He worked for 3 years before quitting the job to become a manga artist.

- In the past, Akira Toriyama has talked about his favorite characters of the Dragon Ball series. When asked who his favorite character was during an interview for Daizenshuu 2, Toriyama said Goku was ever-so slightly topped by a green alien.“I guess I like Piccolo the most after all,” Toriyama said. “Out of all the enemies, Piccolo Daimaō is the one I like most, and even after that I like Piccolo the most. I like Piccolo about the same as I like Goku.”Continuing, Toriyama said he also loved working with Satan because of his gag personality. “It was fun drawing Satan. When I first brought him out, I didn’t think that I would end up making Satan that important of a character. I thought he’d just be a one-shot character. Satan is like that, but thinking up worthless gags is more enjoyable than doing the fight scenes,” Toriyama joked.
